Nutrition policies in Central and Eastern Europe
Article Abstract:
Efforts to develop useful national nutritional policies in the countries of Eastern and Central Europe seem to have been hampered by economic and political obstacles. Current policies in Hungary, Bulgaria, Latvia, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Estonia, Romania, Poland, and the Slovak Republic are presented. Policy frameworks are in place in most of these countries but have not been implemented due to lack of funding and commitment by governmental agencies, political unrest, and health food expenses.

German health and nutrition policies
Article Abstract:
Several factors may have contributed to the consistently high levels of heart disease seen in Germany. The German Nutrition Society has been responsible for reporting on pertinent health issues related to nutrition. However, empowering the German people with information does not seem to have significantly changed their eating habits. Eating habits ingrained during the two World Wars and lack of consensus at the governmental levels may also contribute to continued poor eating habits.
