The economics of local loop architecture for multimedia services

Article Abstract:

Local loop architecture for multimedia services continues to undergo change brought about by the development in wireline and wireless technologies. Hybrid fiber/coax (HFC) and fiber to the curb (FTTC) are some of the newest local loop architectures that possess production and economic cost characteristics that are different from conventional twisted pair copper distribution networks. Such local loop architectures are also most likely to possess low economies of scale.
