High commitment management and unionization in the UK
Article Abstract:
Recent research has looked at whether high commitment management and trade unionism are actually direct opposites, as has traditionally been assumed. It was found that the use of high commitment management rose in the late 1980s in the UK, but that this was not more likely to be found in non-unionised companies. It was not apparent that unionism clashed with high levels of high commitment management. It must be concluded that unionisation is not related to the level of high commitment management.
