Young husband-wife households with children
Article Abstract:
A study was undertaken to analyze the distinctions and economic status of young married couples with and without children. The young couples of the marriages with children tended to have the less formal education thus accounting for their lower incomes. Common to the two groups, though, were the facts that total expenditures exceeded after-tax income, and most were renting their homes. Of the marriages with children, economic status was also affected by the number of children, and whether or not the wife was employed.

Nonmetro and metro children
Article Abstract:
Similarities between metropolitan families and nonmetro families are noted as variables of family size, family living arrangements, age and number of children and types of child-care arrangements. Nevertheless, a larger number of rural rather than urban children, are in families living beneath the poverty level. Furthermore, statistics show that there is an increase of single-parent families in both areas. Economic well-being is also related to factors of family type and race.

An overview of home-based work: results from a regional research project
Article Abstract:
More Americans now have combined their work and family life. Studies showed that most home-based workers were married, in their middle age, finished at least high school and lived in places with more than 2,500 people. Furthermore, home-based workers usually own their business and work at least 30 hours every week. Many home-based workers are contented with their job and look forward to a future in home-based business.
