Manual lumber measurement too slow for today's sawmills
Article Abstract:
Computerized measurements of lumber contain more accurate data than manual measurements. Manual measurements are performed at the bottom, middle, and top sections of the boards. The Seecon computerized system, developed in Finland, allows for 400 measurements for the length of each board. Also, vertical or horizontal movements do not affect measurement accuracy.

Color-coded tag system helps insure safe lockout
Article Abstract:
Kapp Industrial Sign Systems manufactures lockout-signage systems for sawmill machinery. The lockout-signage systems use color-coded signs for each machine to lock it safely during the repair. They indicate the function of each machine part and also localize all machine centers' energy sources that need to be shut off prior to machinery maintenance.
