Renovation aligns plant with industrial markets: conversion to three-layer particleboard accompanies installation of 6X26-ft forming line and innovative panel finishing system
Article Abstract:
Willamette Industries Inc's Duraflake division particleboard plant near Albany OR, was converted from making a homogeneous board on three lines to producing a three-layer board with 10% more board face density on two lines. In the new plant, productivity has increased by 10% and resin consumption has decreased by 10%. The renovated Duraflake plant produces about 205 million sq feet a year, and the improved quality of the particleboard makes most of this salable to industrial markets. Additional details of the renovation are given.

Wood process adapted to straw particleboard
Article Abstract:
PrimeBoard Inc is commercially producing particleboard made from wheat straw at a Wahpeton, ND, plant. A single 30-million-sq-ft-capacity production line is manufacturing the product, sold under the WheatBoard brand name, but plans call for another production line and for output to double in 1998. Sweden's Daproma System AB designed the Wahpeton facility and provided some of its major components.
