Reduce drying degrade to raise dollar return

Article Abstract:

Maintaining lumber drying standards can help producers reduce losses due to degradation. Lumber degrades are caused by drying too fast, drying too slowly, improper stacking, errors in moisture content, natural defects and equipment problems. Because log costs have increased to 75% of manufacturing casts, lumber degrade can effectively reduce a sawmill's profits. By following moisture content control standards producers can reduce the amount of degrade and improve their profits.
