Plywood's new pioneers meet future's challenges
Article Abstract:
Plywood producers are using more efficient manufacturing methods, creating new products and adding value to counter competition in sheathing from other classes of lumber. The competion has fostered a new generation of plywood industry pioneers who have survived and prospered by converting a major part of production to value-added plywood and laminated veneer lumber-type veneers. Meanwhile, sawmills unable to keep up with changing market conditions are closing down while others continue to lose money.
