Congress turns up the heat on LIHEAP
Article Abstract:
The move to cut Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) budget has offended minorities as the heating cost subsidies are needed by the elderly and the poor. Although, the Senate has fully funded the program for 1995, LIHEAP funding has decreased over decade (from $2.1 billion in 1985 to $1.5 billion in 1992). The number of household benefits also decreased by 2.1 million over 1981-1992. The civil rights activists dispute the claims by some Representatives of the House that $1.3 billion is higher than the funds needed for subsidising gas bills of minorities.

Puzzle of the PSA test
Article Abstract:
The prostate specific antigen (PSA) test is used to detect the levels of PSA in the blood, and is one of the many tests used to detect prostate cancer. The PSA is not effective or reliable as a standalone test, and must therefore be combined with other tests such as a manual examination of the prostate gland.
