New tech, threats: schools lock down on computer crime

Secure-It Inc of East Longmeadow, MA, has supplied the Boston Public Schools with a variety of devices for preventing the theft of computers and other office equipment. Among these are the Kablit II , which secures computers with point-to-point cables and protects up to three components; the X-Lock for notebook computers; and the new iMac Security Packages for the Macintosh computer. Boston Public Schools said that it will install some 6,000 to 7,000 Secure-It devices.

The appointment is in line with the company's strategy to become a market leader in the PC management and asset tracking. Automatic Identification said that it will develop and market RFID-based products for corporate resource management applications including real-time physical, logical and dynamic access control.
