Article Abstract:

5000 letters were sent out in early 2001 to homes in Californian counties, requesting baby teeth. The Radiation and Public Health Project is conducting research on the effect of Strontium-90 on cancer rates, and as Strontium-90 is embedded in teeth, the teeth are needed to gauge the amount of the radioactive chemical that is absorbed by children.

Article Abstract:

Researchers at the California and the National Earthquake Prediction and Evaluation Councils strive to develop objective scientific criteria for prediction despite the popularity of less methodical methods. The recent scientifically-based forecast of increased probability of a quake in Parkfield attracted intense media scrutiny.

Legislative watch: moms on the move

Article Abstract:

The first Million Mom March took place in May 2000 in a bid to show support for gun control. Since the march, pro-gun control chapters have risen all over the US, and now their supporters are marching to statehouses to petition for gun control legislation.
