The judicial review debate: from partnership to friction
Article Abstract:
Public debate in the United Kingdom over the judiciary's role in upholding or striking down govt ministerial decisions in fact represents a govt strategy for coping with legitimate judicial review. The number of judicial review applications against he central govt is not increasing unreasonably, it is not unusual for a given dept to face a glut of judicial challenges, and judges have not altered procedural rules of court in favor of applicants. This strategy cannot last in a govt truly applying the rule of law.

Britain and Europe: separate worlds of welfare?
Article Abstract:
Britain's popular and political climates are favorable for enacting programs similar to those of Europe's economic integration. Despite its Thatcheristlegacy, Britain is not significantly different from the European Union in its support for government involvement in redistribution efforts. This suggests Britain can readily adopt welfare policies consistent with those enacted by European Union nations.
