Three principles make the case for reform

Article Abstract:

Larry L. Mathis, new chairman of the American Hospital Association (AHA), believes that leadership, perseverance and unity should be primary goals for the organization in facing the challenges presented by health care reform. The AHA must be a leader in finding a solution to the difficult choices ahead as quality, access and cost of services must somehow be balanced. The diverse institutions that make up the AHA must work together for a system that works well for all.

Health care's new frontier: challenges abound

Article Abstract:

The benefits and detriments of health care reform remain to be seen for hospitals. Although health care providers are accepting the concept that health care reform is imminent, implementing reform in the hospitals is the ultimate challenge. Health care costs, how costs are paid, and streamlining the health care delivery system are expected to change the system as we know it into one whose benefits are invisible until reform is implemented.
