Being there: whether you're on a mountaintop or in a meeting room, empathy makes the difference - and keeps everyone climbing
Article Abstract:
Proper personnel management in the healthcare industry is of greater importance in the 1990s than ever before. Drastic job redesign and hugh layoffs due to financial reasons may be necessary sometimes, but the consequences of such actions reveals poor leadership and can result in serious adverse effects on the organization. Conversely, downsizing gently and creatively tends to indicate forward-looking leadership, and minimizes the negative impact to the organization and individuals involved.
