Employment-based health-insurance: implications of the sampling unit for policy analysis
Article Abstract:
The use of enterprise and establishment employer health insurance survey data in health care reform policymaking is examined. It is shown that the sampling unit used in these surveys determines employee size distribution and the proportion of firms offering health insurance. Enterprise surveys also provide more accurate information on factors that influence the provision of health insurance while establishment surveys are best for assessing state, regional or industry level decisions.

Explaining trends in health insurance coverage between 1988 and 1991
Article Abstract:
The economic recession which was experienced by the US from 1988 to 1991 is blamed for the decline in health insurance coverage for the non-elderly sector during that particular period. However, there are several other factors which contributed to the decline. These include the rise in health care costs and the insurers's refusal to offer individual health insurance coverage to workers who did not have access to employer-sponsored plans.
