Effects of interventions to promote recovery in coronary artery bypass surgical patients
Article Abstract:
Nineteen research studies were evaluated to identify and analyze currently available strategies for improving the recovery experience following heart bypass surgery. Arming patients with knowledge seemed to effectively prepare them on an intellectual level. However, few studies examined their effectiveness at preparing the patient for the surgery's emotional impact. Few studies included women or minorities.

The growth and development of a research study: why stroke survivors wait so long
Article Abstract:
Stroke victims have a tendency to delay seeking emergency care and are therefore unable to participate in several early treatment options. A study was designed to determine why patients delay seeking treatment immediately after the onset of symptoms. The local focus of the research study evolved to include data from numerous centers on a national leve.
