Health problems as determinants of retirement: are self-rated measures endogenous?
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze alternative measures of unobserved health status to determine the influence of mental and physical capacity for work on older men's retirement. An empirical framework was determined to carry out the analysis. Functional capacity measures were also considered to determine functional capacity for work. Results indicated that health problems significantly affect retirement plans than economic factors.
