Winners of the 1997 Hill-Rom Essay Competition are Kara Marschke, a graduate from The University of Michigan, and Alison Heightchew, an undergraduate from James Madison University. Marschke wrote on how states attorneys regulate hospital conversions, and Heightchew examined healthcare provider antitrust affiliations. The competition is sponsored by the Hill-Rom Company Inc. Winners receive $3,000 and their schools receive $1,000.

A fiery attraction on sleepy Sentosa

Discovery Island, Singapore, otherwise known as Sentosa, takes an annual 4 million visitors. Sentosa was purpose-developed and features the largest water park in Asia, Volcanoland, Underwater World, the Butterfly Park, a rare stone museum, the Orchid Fantasy garden, and Fort Siloso. The island boasts a monorail, two golf courses, quiet beaches, and mainly traffic-free roads.
