Hospital image: a correspondence analysis approach
Article Abstract:
The images of 16 hospitals in Northeast Ohio were evaluated using correspondence analysis, a perceptual mapping research technique. The study was done to assess the image of two hospitals in the Lake Hospital System. A questionnaire was designed and used with a random sample of 503 households. Respondents were asked to name the hospitals they associated with specific characteristics. Information gathered from the study proved useful in comparing hospitals in the Lake Hospital System with competitive hospitals. Correspondence analysis proved to be a suitable tool for similar studies.

Do patient perceptions of quality relate to hospital financial performance?
Article Abstract:
Hospital financial performance is correlated to patient perception of the quality of service, according to a survey of 15,095 patients who were discharged from 51 hospitals. Four dimensions of hospital quality were considered: nursing/daily care, medical/billing, admissions and discharge. The study concluded that improved patient satisfaction would lead to greater financial strength for hospitals.
