How adequate are state data to support health reform or monitor health system change?
Article Abstract:
The results of a telephone survey in 1994 by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation on the views of state policymakers on the quality of state-based health data suggested that they cannot ascertain information to support health reform. Policymakers cannot identify easily who and how many are without health insurance coverage. Barriers to improving data include funding, lack of comparability across data sets and the reluctance of providers and insurers to submit required data.

Patient-level cost of home health care under capitated and fee-for-service payment
Article Abstract:
The costs of home health care for Medicare patients provided by health maintenance organizations (HMO) and the traditional fee-for-service (FFS) system are examined. Results show that Medicare costs are lower for HMO patients than FFS patients due to fewer home health visits received by HMO patients. On the other hand, FSS patients have better outcomes implying that HMOs may be providing an insufficient number of visits.
