Locating MRIs through marginal analysis
Article Abstract:
Marginal analysis, a research technique that measures the effect of market changes, was used to select a site for a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) facility. Four potential market areas in Virginia were analyzed, using information on the current number of MRIs in the area and on the market for services. Researchers were able to determine which of the locations would be most profitable for an MRI facility and which would be most stable. Recommendations based on the research included careful definition of the market and the use marginal analysis in dynamic markets.
