Military's med school still standing
Article Abstract:
The future of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, the US military's medical school, is in jeopardy. Several plans have been introduced by Richard Gephardt and the Carter, Reagan and Clinton administrations to close the military school. The school costs 2.5 times more per student than military scholarship programs and produced 147 military doctors compared to 1,050 scholarship doctors in 1994.

The FDA just says yes
Article Abstract:
Republicans are leading efforts to speed up the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)'s drug approval procedures. In this they side with AIDS activists and other consumer groups who want the severely and chronically ill to have access to pharmaceutical innovations. Meanwhile, the FDA has already launched its own efforts to speed approval, such as establishing special categories of drugs to push through quickly.
