Motown gears up for managed competition with regional system
Article Abstract:
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan, the Henry Ford Health System and Mercy Health Services have joined forces to offer a partnership for managed competition in health care for southern Michigan. Membership in the point-of-service plan, slated to begin in Oct 1993, depends on whether the 700,000 union employees of the automobile industry choose to join. Ford and Mercy insist on retaining their health maintenance organizations.
