Operations Review as a Management Tool. The Provider's Perspective
Article Abstract:
Operations review within a health care facility is most effective if handled on a peer level with various department heads. Upper management must present it as a consulting tool for middle management rather than one that is threatening and critical. To achieve maximum effectiveness, an operations review should begin in those areas where the longest gain will be realized. The various departments must be made to understand that it is designed to be supportive and they are under no obligation to adhere to them. The worth of an operations review cannot be fully ascertained until suggestions are put into effect and results are noted.

Operations Review of the EDP Function: A Growing Need
Article Abstract:
Electronic data processing (EDP) effects every aspect of hospital management and inefficient and/or ineffective usage can have adverse results. An operations review of EDP functions can identify many problem areas and recommend improvements. The submission of written goals can be synchronized with those of the hospital so that they can move in the same direction.
