Precision and reproducibility of quantitative coronary angiography with applications to controlled clinical trials
Article Abstract:
Most computerized methods that quantify diseases of the coronary arteries (the blood vessels of the heart) are designed to examine "frozen" moments in the continuously beating cycle. This study used 20 filmed intervals of the heart beating and then selected two to five frames from the complete cycle to compare the size of the arteries. The results were compared to the conventional method which uses freeze frames taken at the point of maximum heart relaxation. The authors suggest from their experiments that the conventional method is the best time to make coronary artery measurements.

Cachectin/tumor necrosis factor-x formation in human decidera, potential role of cytokines in infection-induced preterm labor
Article Abstract:
The hypothesis that toxic chemicals produced by bacteria (toxins) act on specific cells in the uterus to cause chemical factors which may be associated with premature labor was studied in the laboratory by analyzing human placentae from elective cesarean sections at term. The authors conclude that bacterial toxins may induce the formation of specific chemical factors which may then play a fundamental role in causing premature labor.
