The operating room as a source of recycling material
Article Abstract:
The operating room is a source of recyclable material and should be considered in any waste management study done by a hospital. Operating rooms provide disposable drapes, stapling devices, sutures, staple guns, knife blades, saline containers, prep-kits, gloves, plastic basins and gowns. To minimize waste, the hospital should reduce the amount of material used, consider reusing material and recycle. Incineration should meet federal and state standards.
