Use of theory to guide nurses in the design of health messages for children
Article Abstract:
Cognitive development theories can be used to guide nurses in designing health messages for children. Health messages to aid in developing self-care agency must be age-appropriate and appropriate to stage of development and appropriately delivered. Blending of cognitive development theories with certain foundational capabilities and dispositions from Self-Care Deficit Nursing Theory (SCDNT) has yielded five factors useful in putting together and getting out health messages for children with optimal effect.

Measuring problem behaviors in dementia: developing a methodological approach
Article Abstract:
A comprehensive measurement for problem behaviors in dementing illness remains to be formed, although recent developments offer the possibility of improvement. Five factors that often complicate measuring problem behaviors in dementia include: shifting domains, research construct slippage, unanalyzed bias in rater and scoring, and the lack of benchmarking studies. Precise definition of these issues could be used to create a methodology for improving the measurement of problem behaviors.
