Vendors worry: will health reform place technology on trial
Article Abstract:
Executives from several major medical equipment and drug companies present contrasting views on how they expect healthcare reform to affect their businesses. For example, A GE Medical Systems VP believes that the emphasis on cost control and preventative medicine will discourage the development of new devices and technologies. A Digital Equipment Corp executive expects increased computerization to bring in business. All the companies agree that expanded healthcare access will lead to more medical procedures and increased use of their equipment and drugs.
