Where credit is due: three not-for-profits earn S&P's AA+ as much for patient satisfaction as for financial stability
Article Abstract:
Three not-for-profit health care systems credit the quality of service they provide as the reason for the AA+ ratings by Standard and Poor's. Sisters of Mercy Health System of St Louis has doctors and hospitals collaborating on cost control. Evanston Northwestern Healthcare and the Mayo Foundation focus on the care delivery process. The interest rate deductions received from their AA+ ratings will go to patient care expenditures, research and education.
