Article Abstract:

The moment when the UK government announced at the end of 2005 that independent nurse prescribers would soon be able to prescribe from almost the entire BNF, it was hailed as a victory for the profession. Nurses would have to prove they can study at degree level and have written support from their employer, programme leader and designated medical supervisor and the training programme would include 26 days' classroom learning, 12 days' shadowing their medical supervisor, a portfolio and detailed scrutiny of practice.

Practices placements for students: A literature review

Article Abstract:

Practice placements give nursing students a chance to put theory into practice and thus develop a competent practitioner who is capable of delivering high-quality nursing care. A range of teaching strategies such as demonstration, case conferences, questioning and role modeling can enhance and inhibit their learning process.

Why nurses do not disseminate academic coursework

Article Abstract:

A survey was conducted among nurses to examine why coursework was not disseminated. The major reasons reported were lack of time, confidence, motivation and awareness of outlets for dissemination. Some respondents also highlighted lack of forums for dissemination and lack of interest from their fellow professionals.
