ACE inhibitor bulks up muscle
Article Abstract:
Losartan, an inhibitor of angiotensin II type I receptor (AT1) and an FDA-approved drug commonly used to treat high blood pressure, is found to block TGF-[beta] signaling in skeletal muscle. Losartan treatment has provided a promising method to improve pathology in Marfan syndrome and other myopathies and new insights into the study of basic pathological mechanisms underlying various disorders of muscle.
