Access before approval - A right to take experimental drugs?

Article Abstract:

The Abigail Alliance, a patient-advocacy group, has filed a lawsuit against the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for declining the terminally ill patients the purchase of experimental drugs for which the efficacy is not yet established. The FDA is finally permitted to approve compassionate use only for diseases in which evidence suggests that a given medication might have efficacy.

Medical Marijuana and the Supreme Court

Article Abstract:

A Supreme Court case on medical marijuana against Angel McClary Raich of California who consumes marijuana or cannabis for her chronic pain is presented. She along with her doctor and their attorneys will ask the appeals court judges to consider other legal arguments such as whether prosecuting patients who use marijuana to relieve pain violates their right to due process of law.

Physician-assisted suicide-Oregon and beyond

The existence of the controversial Oregon law known as the Death with Dignity Act is questioned by the U.S. Supreme Court after a case of physician-assisted suicide of Terri Schiavo was bought out to sympathize on the case. The medical and case history of Terri Schiavo is discussed.
