Colon polyps: Little bumps, big significance

Article Abstract:

Polyps are caused by a disorder called familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP), which is believed to be hereditary. Polyps are often discovered by one or more screening tests like Fecal Occult blood test, Flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy and newer technologies such as colonoscopy done with computerized tomography.

Can drinking beer lead to colon cancer?

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that drinking beer increases risk of developing colorectal adenomas, and some of these polyps may become malignant. Previous studies have also linked colon polyps with increased alcohol consumption. Fewer than four drinks per week appears to be a safe level.

Colon cancer: Regular screenings could save your life

Article Abstract:

Regular testing for colon cancer is recommended particularly to those with a family history of the cancer or colon polyps, especially after the age of 50. Screening can catch the disease in its early stages and prevent fatalities.
