We sometimes sabotage our efforts to improve ourselves by being overly self-critical. When we tell ourselves that we cannot control our eating or that we are failures and will never look good, it can become a self-fulfilling prophesy. We need to learn to give ourselves positive messages.

A person who maintains a positive outlook is more likely to achieve success in dieting and in other endeavors. Breaking challenges into small, manageable pieces helps in achieving goals, as does associating with positive people.
