Diagnosis and treatment of cancer of the mouth

Article Abstract:

Both physical and psychological factors must be taken into account when nurses deal with patients presenting with mouth cancer. Diagnosis of cancer of the mouth is usually easier than other types of cancer as it may be more noticeable and regular dental checks will show up problems quickly. Patients may be suspectible to malnutrition and depression during and after treatment, therefore nurses should monitor food intake and psychological changes. Help may also be required for speech and socializing abilities.
