Dietary supplements of dehydroepiandrosterone in relation to breast cancer risk
Article Abstract:
Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) tablets are widely available as a dietary supplement and are used in the hope of counteracting the manifestations of aging. However potential dangers have not been fully researched, especially evidence of a link between increased serum concentrations of DHEA and higher breast cancer risk in postmenopausal women. The risk may be increased by the endocrine abnormality linked with pre-existing abdominal obesity.
