Effect of glucose, sucrose and fructose on plasma glucose and insulin responses in normal humans: comparison with white bread
Article Abstract:
The plasma glucose and insulin responses of healthy people following consumption of different sugars are affected by both the source and the amount of carbohydrate tested, according to research into the plasma glucose and insulin responses of different doses of glucose, fructose, sucrose and white bread. The highest plasma glucose and insulin responses were obtained with glucose, followed by white bread, sucrose and fructose. The link between glucose and insulin responses was similar for sucrose, fructose, bread and glucose, indicating that sugars do not produce inappropriately high postprandial insulin responses.

Differential effect of unsaturated oils and butter on blood glucose and insulin response to carbohydrate in normal volunteers
Article Abstract:
A standard carbohydrate meal taken with either unsaturated oils or butter was given to normal volunteers to determine the effects of fat on blood glucose and insulin. The glycemic response was less effective with unsaturated oils and delayed with butter. No effect was observed on insulin release which indicates that fat reduces glycemic but not insulinemic response. This finding shows differences in physiologic response to fat and fiber and has practical applications in manipulating diabetic diets.

Clinical effects of a dietary fibre supplement: a review
Article Abstract:
Colonic and metabolic effects due to the dietary fibre addition can be used therapeutically in many clinical situations. The clinical study of dietary fibre supplementation is done in constipation, body weight reduction and blood pressure. Some fibers such as bran and ispaghula generates larger and softer stools, which are useful in treating constipation.
