Olestra is a fat-based fat substitute that will enter the market in summer 1996 under the trade name Olean. It is formulated to keep the body from absorbing it. Possible side effects include abdominal cramps, loose stools and inhibited nutrient absorption.

Health tips for low-fat cooking
Article Abstract:
Dietary fat can be decreased by using low-fat cookware, stocking up on fat-free ingredients and sauteing food in liquids rather than oil. Amounts of meat in casseroles and stews should be reduced by 1/3 and lean ground beef should be used.
