Article Abstract:

The Dept. of Energy's Voluntary Protection Program, established in Jan. 1994, aims to encourage contractors to adopt proactive measures towards the creation of safety and health programs. This program publicly commends deserving contractors who have proven themselves in the areas of leadership, employee involvement, work-site evaluation, prevention of danger and its control and training of personnel in safety practices.

Videotapes are touted as highly effective training tools in teaching employees about safety and accident prevention. However, they can be abused when utilized as a stand-alone form of training. safety professionals are urged to first develop the safety training presentation and then determine how a videotape can support it in order to derive the maximum benefit from videos.
