US Department of Agriculture's (USDA's) officials stated that the new food pyramid, 'My Pyramid' is part of an overall food guidance system emphasizing a more individualized approach to improve health by making modest changes in diet and incorporating regular physical activity into daily living. Critics stated that beyond such limitations in creating individualized plans for consumers, the USDA's effort missed its chance to direct individuals toward a healthier diet.
