Improving physical health care in a mental health trust

Article Abstract:

The general medicine and psychiatry face the challenge to develop systems that are better equipped to meet the physical health needs of mental health patients and reduce mortality rates. Central and North West London Mental Health NHS trust is establishing a department of physical health care staffed by nurses with general nursing backgrounds to tackle this problem.

New horizons in mental health care

Article Abstract:

Nurses play an important role in taking care of the needs of people suffering from mental health by intermediate care. The main aim of people taking care of mental health care patients are to avoid admission in hospital, long-term care, and helping patients to get discharged from hospitals at the earliest with proper care and support.

Methods of observation in mental health inpatient units

Article Abstract:

The nature of observation in mental health inpatient units is discussed. This practice is likely to continue as it provides a written record of what has occurred, however, the quality of nursing intervention is more likely to have significant impact on patients than is observation.
