Increasing Professional Tension Limits NP Opportunities

Article Abstract:

Nurse practitioners (NPs) have been subjected to tension from parts of the medical community, such as being limited to Medicaid or Medicare patients. Some HMOs do not allow NPs to treat their patients. Legislation identifying NPs as primary care providers is either in effect or pending in over a dozen states. NPs should educate the public about the role of NPs.
