Initiative to implement 6 key measures in hospital care called lifesaving

Article Abstract:

An initiative undertaken of improving patient care prevented about 122300 avoidable hospital deaths over an 18-month period. The campaign helped in implementing 6 key measures in hospital for improving the quality care, which include deploying a rapid response team, delivering reliable evidence based care for acute myocardial infarction, preventing adverse drugs, preventing central line infections, preventing surgical site infections and preventing ventilator-associated penumonia.

JCAHO tweaks emergency departments' pneumonia treatment standards

Article Abstract:

The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) has established a performance measure for emergency departments' treatment of pneumonia. The JCAHO has realized that unintended consequences might emerge from instituting quality measures, but hospitals and emergency departments should continue their efforts on improving care and treatment standards.
