Long-term follow-up of the West of Scotland coronary prevention study

Article Abstract:

A randomized clinical trial was conducted for comparing pravastatin with placebo in men having hypercholesterolemia, with a follow-up of five years to study coronary prevention. The results concluded that pravastatin led to a significant reduction in coronary events.

Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A(sub 2) as an independent predictor of coronary heart disease

Article Abstract:

Elevated blood levels of lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A(sub 2) may predict which men will have a heart attack or die from coronary artery disease. This enzyme may modify low-density lipoproteins inside coronary arteries.

Article Abstract:

C-reactive protein is a relatively moderate predictor of coronary heart disease. The long-term stability of C-reactive protein values are similar to that of both blood pressure and total serum cholesterol.
