Many people think self-injury is just a form of attention-seeking, but a network of nurses sought to present it in a more positive light
Article Abstract:
The North West Self-Injury Interest Group, created by a network of nurses in the north-west of England in 1995, aims to address the many complex issues associated with self-injury. It was particularly keen initially to give self-injury are more positive image, moving away from it being seen as attention-seeking behaviour. It has come to play a key role in acknowledging the problems faced by those who care for people who self-injure. It is also involved in the delivery of training and educational programmes.
