New antibiotics from bacterial natural products

Article Abstract:

The prospects for renewed discovery of natural antibiotics, especially those with new molecular templates and/or mechanisms of action from newly tailored scaffolds to discuss novel strategies for engaging old and new bacterial targets are explored. The evidence suggests that efforts to discover natural product families seem likely to complement the decades-long trend of iterative semisynthetic modification of old antibiotic scaffolds in the drive for discovering new antibiotics.

Fast predators or fast food, the fit still survive

Article Abstract:

The studies show that the aerobic exercise capacity can be of great help in the development of metabolic syndrome, which represents a large number of risk factors including several cardiovascular diseases. The results show that the aerobic capacity can metabolize oxygen and can also generate energy depending on the efficiency of the oxygen delivery to tissues and hence can result in the protection from cardiovascular risk factors associated with the metabolic syndrome.

Global elimination of trachoma: How frequently should we administer mass chemotherapy?

Article Abstract:

A mathematical model using epidemiological data from various countries has determined how often repeat mass drug administration should be carried out to get rid of trachoma globally. In areas where trachoma is moderately prevalent it should be treated yearly, but for hyperendemic areas, treatment should be biannual.
