New protection needed for new PELs

Article Abstract:

The anticipated change in the standards of the permissible exposure limits of chemicals by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), creates new challenges for the chemical companies, which fall under 1971 guidelines. The changes like improving ventilation, establishing more engineering controls, redesigning of personal protection equipment, developing respirators to be used in certain atmospheres are the expected updates.

Scaffolding studies back need for better safety training

Article Abstract:

The high rate of scaffolding accidents reported by Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2002 is discussed. It is observed that proper safety training could have averted most of the mishaps. Occupational Safety & Health Administration's standards for inspection are also discussed.

OSHA releases first ergonomics guidelines

Article Abstract:

The ergonomics guidelines released by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration which remedies for the growing musculoskeletal injuries at the workplace are discussed.
