Issues concerning the qualities of the three candidates running for the job of president of the Royal College of Nursing are presented. The fight is between Christine Watson, the current president, Roswyn Hakesley-Brown and Ray Rowden.

Issues concerning the role of nurses on Local Health Groups in Wales are discussed. A report by the UK Audit Commission maintains that the views of nurses on policy are not sufficiently considered by the boards.
