Pregnancy-associated mortality after birth, spontaneous abortion, or induced abortion in Finland, 1987-2000

Article Abstract:

The 'healthy pregnant women effect for pregnancies and pregnancy-associated mortality after birth, spontaneous abortion, or induced abortion in women who were pregnant or within one year of pregnancy termination is studied using data from Finland for the years 1987-2000. It is concluded that the healthy pregnant woman effect is present for all pregnancies including those not ending in births.

Eighty hour work reform: Faculty and resident perceptions

Article Abstract:

The resident and faculty perceptions on the impact of the 80 hour work reform on residency training are described. The results have shown that faculty and resident perceptions differed on the impact of the work reform on patient care and resident education but agreed that it improved resident quality of life.

Periodontal disease and gestational diabetes mellitus

Article Abstract:

The relationship between periodontal disease and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in pregnant women and type 1 or 2 diabetes in nonpregnant women is examined. An association is observed between periodontal disease and GDM.
