Lemuel Dary Wright (March 1, 1913-May 12, 1995)
Article Abstract:
Nutritional scientist Lemuel Dary Wright began his work on micronutrients when he was at the University of Texas where he was a postdoctoral fellow. This period at the university had a major influence on his future research interest in B-vitamins. It was in mid-1950s that Wright and his colleagues at Sharpe and Dohme began to characterize a new acetate-replacing factor which led to the discovery of melavonic acid. He received the Borden Award from the American Institute of Nutrition in 1958 for his outstanding researches on biocytin, melavonic acid and microbiological assay procedures.
